How to disposal and recycle Laughing gas and Nitrous Oxide Canisters
Laughing gas also know as Hippie Crack, Nitrous Oxide Canisters, Whippitz and Balloons are becoming an increasingly popular drug of choice by festival party goers and is a familiar sight on our pavements and streets.
What is nitrous oxide and what does it do?
Nitrous oxide is typically used as a light anaesthetic that is administered by a dentist and can also be seen used in café shops such as Starbucks to charge whipped cream dispensers.
When the nitrous oxide canister is being use as a drug the chemical properties will be transferred into a balloon using a nitrous oxide dispenser or a nitrous oxide cracker that is then later inhaled by an individual. The effect lasts a short period of time, so you’ll often find a large number of smart whip canisters discarded in the same place negatively effecting peoples health and the environment.

How are nos canisters / Nitrous oxide canisters are negatively impacted the environment?
Nitrous oxide canisters are typically made from steel which is a known recyclable material, not all local council recycling facilities will accept nitrous oxide canisters because the product is registered as illegal content and their design is not reusable. Nos canisters are usually discarded in house hold bins then end up in landfill negatively effecting countries such as Africa and Pakistan.
